Lesson 1: Basic Posture

Learn the proper alignment of the body, which is key to executing complex movements safely and efficiently. Also we will learn the most common arms basic positions to make beautiful frame for your dance!

You will practice lines and angles, emphasizing lifts, slides, and twists. These movements create the sharp, geometric effects often seen in Fusion, giving contrast to the fluidity that will come in later lessons.

In this class, we’ll dive into one of the signature aspects of bellydance: circular movements. You’ll learn how to create smooth, controlled rombs (diamond shapes) and circles using the hips and chest, head and shoulders. These movements help you develop fluidity and grace, which are essential for this style.

This session introduces you to floor work, focusing on isolating specific parts of your body while on the yoga math. We’ll practice preparing the body for deeper, more dynamic movements such as waves and figure eights. You will strengthen your core and increase flexibility.

We’ll practice different types of waves—figure 8s, bodywaves, and side waves—developing both upper and lower body fluidity. These serpentine movements add an organic, mesmerizing quality to your dance

In this class, we’ll focus on arm techniques, particularly arm waves. You will learn how to extend energy through your arms, creating fluid and expressive movements that flow seamlessly with your body. Arm waves are an important tool for adding elegance and drama to your performance.

Here, we’ll integrate footwork and turns into your dancing. This class focuses on the importance of steps and directional changes, including simple traveling steps and spins. You will learn to combine your upper body isolations and fluidity with strong, grounded footwork to create dynamic movement across the stage.

Now that we’ve worked on isolations, waves, and footwork, it’s time to practice combining them into continuous, flowing movement. You’ll learn how to move seamlessly from one element to another, creating a cohesive dance.

This class is dedicated to mastering stylized movements in Fusion Bellydance. We will learn some of my favorite combinations that you can already incorporate into your dance practice. Here, you will begin to build your own dance vocabulary.

Choreography breakdown. The choreography will incorporate all the techniques and movements learned in previous lessons, with an emphasis on individual expression, stage presence, and personal style.
